Leadership qualities (traits, skills and competencies)

Much has been written on leadership. Research after world war 1 and 2, emphasized on traits and believed that Leaders are born. But after the human relation movement and emergence of OB study, the research inclined towards that “leaders are made” i.e. Everyone can become a leader, if he or she wants so. In this regard DDI, has done remarkable work.

 This post is dedicated to get opinions from people what they think about the crucial leadership qualities. Kindly limit your qualities to minimum 3 and maximum 6 points. My view is:

What Leaders do

Leaders and managers are two different entities. Leaders at times manage and managers at times lead, but when we talk about leaders and managers themselves, definitely they both have different characteriatics and works.

Here my focus is to highlight what exactly Leaders do and this post is dedicated to get the peoples’ opinion in this regard. Kindly limit your answer to max 7 points.

The term ‘Leadership’ is today’s buz word. Whether academics or business, everyone is taking keen interest after the current financial crisis. My workshop participants’ think that leadership is the name of Position, Power or Status. The reality is, it is more than that.
