Overall the presentation was amazing. Ms Marilyn gave us a great insight on GSK’s manual’s and how it helps create a bond with the employees within the organization. The best thing that I want to mention here is the lesson I learnt that day which will stay with me for lifetime is the way she concluded her presentation saying if you think you are satisfied with your performance at any stage, RAISE the bar (standards). Well most of us are working to achieve one goal, Marilyn very nicely conveyed a message using a beautiful quote and stated that reaching to the end is NOT the end. Once you reach to your expectations, just put yourself up for a greater challenge and keep on doing this. Well that’s all I remember yet I can recall the discussion was very interesting. It certainly gave us the spirit to work harder every time than the last time and one day you will be at a post where your existence will matter to the rest, and Marilyn is a great model in this regards. Thanks Marilyn for your time.

marilyn gave a good presentation.she gave examples of her experiences at work including coaching.she talked about her previous experience in the marketing field also.she made a good point of not resting on your laurels but instead aiming even higher. The real life work experience examples she gave were quite informative. She was open to questioning and didn’t get annoyed if a lot of questions were asked. It was quite a beneficial session from someone working in the field.

  3. Saad Ali says:

Marilyn’s session was very informative and supportive to the coaching and mentoring. The practical example given by her were very supportive for the understanding of the bookish concept. The most interesting part was , sharing of the field from sales to HR. She gave an overview about the working pattern of GSK.

  4. Maria says:

Miss. Marilyn was brought in by Celestine’s group in order to facilitate their own presentation. She works at GSK in the Marketing and Sales department and shared the information pertaining to training needs, coaching and mentoring. She used her speaking skills to motivate the students to stay strong during their studies which will ultimately land them in a world of greater opportunities in the corporate.

  6. Misbah Saleem says:

What I liked in Ms. Marilyn presentation was that I got to know how GSK develops, trains and manages its employees, what are there processes. I liked her speaking skills. Her presentation was attractive and educational. She also said that you should increase the standard bar every time you achieve success.

  7. An informative session , giving a brief on her journey from university to workplace and the challenges she faced , how she developed her public speaking skills and her attitude towards challenges and raising the bar every time. Also some insights on the systemic working approaches at gsk.

  8. Celestine Campos says:

Marilyn Pereira, Product Manager at GlaxoSmith Kline, came for a guest speaker session at IoBM and spoke on Management Development. After a brief intro about herself and her work background, she went on to describe what Management Development was all about and explained it with actual live examples from her tenure at P&G and GSK. She went on to tell us about the work culture at GSK and what measures does it take to train and coach its employees. She provided us with not only on the job but also off the job examples, which proved to be very informative.

Thanks once again Marilyn for your insights!

  9. ADNAN AHMED says:

The session with miss marilyn was some what motivating irrespective of the fact that her topic was not relevent to group topic for which she was expected to talk about. Miss marilyn skills in the field of sales and forecasting was imperasive, and the learning she got at IBA was inspiring. after all it was a good session as we saw some inside documents and presentation and some useful working knowledge about GSK.

  10. Celestine Campos says:

@ adnan: Marilyn’s topic was Management Development – and in case you hadn’t noticed, her presentation started off on this note only, explaining the meaning of MD, the issues, what it encompasses and the MD opportunities, which, if you go through the course outline, you will clearly see that it was a part of the group presentation – Managing Careers.

Obviously to link it to her current position, she would have to provide examples through her perspective, which she did.

My point: its not all bookish when speaking to someone from the practical world.

  11. Sara Tariq says:

Mariyln topic being about Management Development, she showed us a few manuals of how GSK attempts to develop its employees. Some of the examples being formal training sessions, the coffee bar, mentoring options at GSK, etc. Overall the session was a very productive one which gave an insight on how careers of employees are managed practically at GSK.
